Jane Yolen, a past president of SFWA, won two Nebulas for short story, one for “Sister Emily’s Lightship” 1997, and novelette “Lost Girls” 1998. Author of over 350 published books ranging from poetry for children and adults, picture book for children, middle grade fiction and nonfiction, young adult fiction and nonfiction, adult fiction, non-fiction, fir tale collections, cook books, music books, graphic novels, movie scripts, lyrics for folk and rock groups and individual singers, from Lui Collins, June Tabor, to the Flash Girls, Boiled in Lead, and her own band, Three Ravens (she is actually the fourth).
She has won many awards–one from Boskone set her good coat on fire. She’s been called the Hans Christian Andersen of America by Newsweek, and the Aesop of the Twentieth Century by the New York Times. She has had a number of children’s books on the Times Bestseller list. She is a Grand Master of SFWA, Grandmaster of SFPA, and Grandmaster of the World Fantasy Assn. Six colleges and universities have given her honorary doctorates.
