Thank you for letting us be part of your promotions journey! Book campaigns are tough business, but our team is highly enthusiastic about getting word of your amazing latest work, as fellow SFWA members, out to as many readers as possible.

Congratulations on your upcoming release, and thank you for making the New Release Newsletter part of your promotion strategy!

The NRN has a new look and structure to support SFWA members in good standing. When you submit your information below, your work will be entered into a monthly newsletter that targets speculative readers keen to learn more about publications by SFWA members.

Your new title will also be entered into the monthly NRN Catalog, available at The SFWA Shop.

This is a FREE TO DOWNLOAD publication that we encourage you to use for promo purposes, whether at local bookstores and libraries or during in-person events.

Who can submit?

Submissions to the New Release Newsletter are open to SFWA members in good standing.

Members submitting to the New Release Newsletter must have memberships up-to-date on the 10th of the month, our deadline for inclusion in that month’s newsletter.

What Can You Submit?

Your stand-alone published work can be of any length and any type, so long as it’s in the speculative fiction genre. Traditionally, indie, or self-published works are all welcome. Nonfiction related to SFF topics is also eligible for listing. SFWA reserves the right to refuse any title.

Submissions are limited to one per author per month. Be sure to include a link to where the publication can be purchased, ordered, downloaded, or watched. Uploading cover art is also required. If there is no cover art associated with this work, you can include a screenshot of a title page or a headshot instead. If you do not have that information yet, please wait to complete this form until you do.

When Does NRN Launch Its Newsletter and Catalog?

The newsletter is released every month around the 25th, at which point you can also download the latest catalog at The SFWA Store. Your submission form must be received by the 10th to be included in the current month’s newsletter.

Prize Giveaways

All authors are welcome to give away up to 5 copies of their new release to readers, print or digital. The prize winners will be drawn and notified in the week after the newsletter goes out. If you are giving away the second or later book in a series we HIGHLY recommend offering the first book in the series as a prize instead.

What’s New in the Program?

We have new spotlight options!

All authors are entitled to a half-page ad, but you can also receive a full-page listing for your work on a first-come, first-serve basis. Then, add on $10 more for a second page that features either two or three back-catalogue titles or an author interview. (Check out the examples below!)

A regular NRN page, which can feature new releases for two SFWA members. Yellow and purple backgrounds alternate to differentiate between authors, and books are grouped by main genre category (e.g., Science Fiction, Fantasy, Horror).

A Premium Ad Spot, available in limited supply per issue at $25USD. Opposite this full-page ad, a SFWA member may include a back catalog (up to three books) or author spotlight interview for only $10 more.

Space is limited for these extra opportunities, so if you are interested, please select “yes” on the Premium Ad Spot question and answer the following questions accordingly. When the NRN team has approved your spot, you can hop over to The SFWA Shop to make your payment.

What If My Work Isn’t a Book?

SFWA is delighted to be growing its advocacy power to include other works of SFF: videogames, table-top board games, comic series, and other visual arts. Check this space soon for word about an upcoming Quarterly NRN, specially designed to feature your latest releases in more dynamic mediums.
