Reprint-only podcast StarShipSofa closes to submissions on January 14, 2015.
Prozine STRANGE HORIZONS is remaining closed to fiction submissions until February 1, 2016.
Prozine TOR.COM has closed to short fiction submissions: “Our dedicated editors and readers will read through and respond to everything that is submitted up to that point, but we do not plan to reopen in the foreseeable future.” Full details at Tor.com.

Happy New Year! I’m happy to announce that I have been chosen as guest editor for issue 20 of EYE TO THE TELESCOPE, the official online journal of the SCIENCE FICTION POETRY ASSOCIATION (SFPA). The theme I have chosen for this issue is “family.” Family means many different things to many different people, and I think there is a lot of potential for this theme in terms of exploration through speculative poetry.
I hope to see poetry that explores the myriad and diverse ways that define family. I hope to see poetry that challenges my own preconceived notions and definitions of what family means. I hope to see poetry that defines family through emotion. Show me the worlds of the universe through family. I look forward to receiving your submissions!

The new science magazine UNDARK is seeking “nonfiction science/culture articles. The Knight Science Journalism Program at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge, MA) is debuting a new type of science magazine called Undark in April 2016. The magazine will explore the intersection of science and society.” They pay unspecified “fair and competitive” rates.
