Workshop Scholarship Opportunity for SFWA Members

News from The Fine Arts Work Center–a nationally recognized residency program for emerging writers and artists:

One member of SFWA will be awarded a full scholarship to “The Dark Side: A Fiction Workshop” taught by Elizabeth Hand.

The scholarship is sponsored by The Fine Arts Work Center. Their Summer Program consists of nearly one hundred workshops in writing and visual arts, and runs from June 10-August 24, 2018. They are located in Provincetown, MA.

SFWA members should apply for the General Scholarship and include a note indicating SFWA membership. The application deadline is April 13. Notification is May 1.

The Dark Side Workshop is open to writers whose work explores the darker side of noir, suspense, science fiction, dark fantasy, supernatural, and mainstream fiction.  You do not need to be a member of SFWA to attend.

WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

This Intensive workshop open to writers whose work explores the darker side of noir, suspense, science fiction, dark fantasy, supernatural, and mainstream fiction. We will workshop each other’s work, and we’ll also do in-class exercises and flash fiction as time allows.

BIOGRAPHY

Elizabeth Hand is the multiple-award-winning author of fourteen novels and four collections of short fiction and essays, and a longtime critic for numerous publications, including the Washington Post and Los Angeles Times. Her work has been optioned for film and TV. She teaches at the Stonecoast MFA Program in Creative Writing, and divides her time between the Maine coast and North London.
