Reynolds, Alastair: The Prefect (Ace, Jun08)
I took this one out of its envelope Wednesday evening, opened to the first page with the intent of checking the first couple paragraphs, and surfaced for air 4 hours later. A real grabber, in other words, and even though Reynolds has a tendancy to give us the same information two or three times in the course of as many pages, his plots, his characters, his settings, the whole thing's just incredibly fun and well done. I don't recall reading any of his other books, but based on his one, I'll defintely be on the lookout from now on.
