Nisi Shawl will teach April 6-11, 2008, at Centrum, Washington state's multimedia arts retreat. As part of the Young Artists Program, Shawl and co-teachers Christian Swenson and Diem Chau will offer 5th and 6th grade students "Water World," a unique opportunity to combine the scientific study of marine life with adventures in artistic expression. Shawl will help young writers create stories, poems, and dialogues based on what they learn, while Swenson and Chau focus on movement and the visual arts. Libby Palmer of the Port Townsend Marine Science Center will oversee participants' scientific studies.
Nisi Shawl is a writer of science fiction and fantasy living in Seattle, Washington. She's an active member of SFWA and a graduate of the Clarion West Writers Workshop.
