2007 Australian Science Fiction Award Winners

The Australian Science Fiction Awards were anounced this past weekend. Commonly referred to as the Ditmar Awards or Ditmars, they recognise excellence by Australians in Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror. Each year, the Australian National Science Fiction Convention presents the Ditmar Awards for the previous calendar year.

    Novel: The Pilo Family Circus by Will Elliot (ABC Books)
    Novella/novelette: "The Devil in Mr Pussy" by Paul Haines (C0ck, Couer de Lion)
    Short story: "The Fear of White" by Rjurik Davidson (Borderlands #7)
    Collected work: The Year's Best Australian Science Fiction and Fantasy Vol.2 edited by Bill Congreve & Michelle Marquardt (Mirrordanse)
    Best artwork: Andrew MacRae (Wheatland Press)
    Fan Writer: Danny Oz
    Fan artist: Jon Swabey
    Fan production: ASif website
    Fanzine: HorrorScope edited by Shane Jiraiya Cummings
Special Award Categories - Special awards recognizing outstanding achievements in science fiction, fantasy or horror not eligible in the existing categories.
    The William Atheling, Jr. Award: Justine Larbalestier for Daughters of Earth: Feminist Science Fiction in the Twentieth Century (Wesleyan University Press)
    Best new talent: Alisa Krasnostein
    Best professional achievement: Bill Congreve
    Best fan achievement: Alisa Krasnostein
