*************************************************** Octavia E. Butler Memorial Scholarship Fund *************************************************** The Octavia E. Butler Memorial Scholarship Fund has been founded in honor of the internationally acclaimed fiction writer, Octavia E. Butler, who passed away in February of this year. The fund will enable writers of color to attend one of the Clarion writing workshops where Ms. Butler got her start and later taught. The scholarship will provide future generations of emerging writers of color with the same opportunity and experience that Ms. Butler had. The Octavia E. Butler Memorial Scholarship Fund will be administered by The Carl Brandon Society and contributions are being solicited. The first scholarship will be awarded in 2007, and no details about application are provided at this time. The administrators hope to raise an endowment of $100,000. Octavia E.
