Whether you’re a new writer looking for an audience or a seasoned pro with an unencumbered backlist, you’re probably weighing the risks against the rewards. How much work is it to do it yourself? What are the pitfalls? How much would it cost to have someone else do it? Where do you put it? How do you promote it? Is this a good use of your time? You’re asking the right questions, anyway. Overview of AI Techniques for Your Writing Presentation on artificial intelligence by Dr. Alice Armstrong.  The objective of this talk to provide authors with a very brief overview of major techniques in AI and machine learning and a chance to pitch ideas to an expert and get feedback on ideas from the presenter and the audience. The technical talk will be given first and will take half of the allotted time. Dr. Armstrong will not go into depth on any one topic, but rather attempt to provide a list of references and resources for authors. She anticipates covering 5 – 8 topics, depending on the time. In the second half, the floor will be opened for questions. Questions such as “Would it be plausible if…” or “Would you stop reading a story if an author did this…” will be addressed.  Dr. Armstrong will also be willing to clarify technical details, if desired.  A link to the presentation and/or a handout will be provides to the audience members so that they can take these references with them as a resource.
