2006 Nebula Awards® Weekend: Hotel Reservation Update

When negotiating with a hotel for the 2006 Nebula Awards Weekend, we kept the room block conservative, comparable to what the room blocks have been the last couple of years. What we currently have booked right now, a month and a half out, is actually about what the Seattle Nebulas ended up with.
We have filled up our block at the Tempe Mission Palms and the hotel outside of the block on Thursday and Friday night is currently filled with other reservations and a corporate group block. We've been told that the corporate group's block will be finalized at the beginning of April and that rooms may become available then for those nights. The Mission Palms is willing to take your name for a waiting list. There are still plenty of rooms available at the Mission Palms on Saturday night. The online booking system has a bug that will not give you the group rate with the block being full. You need to get that by phone at (800) 547-8705 or at (480) 894-1400 and tell them you are with the Nebula Awards or SFWA.
We have set up an informal overflow block at the Holiday Inn Tempe for $99.99 a night, S/D/T/Q plus tax. We do not have an online code for this rate. They are located about a mile away and do have a shuttle van that can take you to the Mission Palms. Reservations are (888 465 4329) and the hotel phone number is 480-9683451.
Below is a list of nearby hotels. There are many others within two to three miles that can be looked up on any travel web site. One other option listed below are rooms at the Embassy Suites Phoenix North where the LepreCon 32 convention is happening that weekend. It is approximately 25 miles away from the Mission Palms by local freeways. We are also looking into options for providing a shuttle bus between the two sites for those without their own transporatation.
