Kir Bulychov (1934-2003)

Locus Online and the Moscow Times report that Igor Mozheiko, Russian writer of science fiction and screenplays under the pseudonym Kir Bulychov, died Friday, September 4.

Born in Moscow, October 18, 1934, he graduated from the Moscow Teachers Training Institute of Foreign Languages and worked as a translator and correspondent. He began to write science fiction in 1965 and translated many English language stories into Russian.

Although he wrote more than 20 screenplays, and wrote adult science fiction, he was best known for young adult stories about Alice Selezneva, a girl from the future. The stories were collected in English as Alice: The Girl From Earth.

The funeral was last Tuesday in Moscow. Mozheiko is survived by his wife and daughter.
